Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), located in the historic city of Multan, is one of Pakistan’s premier public sector universities, known for academic excellence, cultural heritage, and forward-thinking innovation. Established in 1975 by an Act of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, the university was originally named the University of Multan. In 1979, it was renamed to honor the great Sufi scholar and saint, Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya (1172–1262 A.D.), who once founded a prominent theological center of learning in the city.
